a blankie

so my brother and sister-in-law went and got themselves a baby, or, i suppose, they have one on order. it should be showing up right around easter. oh, and by "it," i mean "he."

in any case, i decided to knit the little bugger a blanket. i would have given some process updates but i didn't want to give away the surprise. so now that it is (more or less) finished and gifted, i'll show it to you:

more below!

it is made of 5 balls of sublime organic marino dk wool in a pattern that i devised to minimize losses from poor planning. and by that i mean i decided against cute narrow stripes that could have lead to shortages and awkwardness towards the end of the blanket in favor of giant stripes, each made from an entire ball. the pattern is divided into three panels of slip stitch, leaving diagonal stripes on the side panels and a sort of lattice work in the center. you might be able to see the little slipped bars on the reverse, if you enlarge the picture. this was a continuation of the pattern i used for my mom's scarf which i never posted a picture of. but it was cool, promise.

next on the knitting docket is socks. have i told you how much i like wool socks? it just seems like a natural progression.

but things are still really busy around the old studio/bedroom, what with two shows about to open and another top secret project still in the works. so i suppose things around nothing is perfect will continue to be slow for a while longer.

oh, here's posters for the upcoming art shows:

check 'em out, eh?
